Defined by the band as “Upper West Side Soweto”, songs like “A-Punk”, “Oxford Comma”, “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” and “Cousins” showcased the band’s unerring ability to make clever, catchy-as-hell indie rock blended with joyful, Afro-pop-inspired melodies. It saw them rise from the music bloggers’ favourites into a Grammy Award-winning act.
This fourth studio album will mark their first without founding member Rostam Batmanglij. He left with the band on a high. Their first two full-lengths sold nearly 1.2 million combined copies, yet always a sound delightfully out of sync with everything else.
Live, as on record, they create their own world – nimbly moving between different genres, moods and time-signatures, and making them their own. Each show is a celebration of all of that and we can’t wait to see them at North Byron Parklands come July.

It follows their 5 x Platinum hit ‘1955’ and 2 x Platinum hit ‘Higher’ - both lifted from the critically acclaimed 2016 Orchestral Remix Album Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung. The song’s title is a reference to the bumbling, boorish dad ‘Clark Griswold’ and the group are opening up from an angle that’s not often addressed in their genre. Instead of leaning into common troupes, the group are reaching for something more honest and truthful, with Suffa at one-point intoning ‘And take a look at the way that I’m living/Mistakes are better never made than forgiven, right?’ The group have sold a staggering 1.6 million singles and nearly 1 million albums. They’ve garnered enormous industry accolades with 8 x Aria’s, a J Award, 6 x songs in the Top 10 of the JJJ’s Hottest 100, 5 x Top 10 ARIA Singles, and 5 x #1 ARIA Albums to their name. On top of these achievements, Hilltop Hoods just happen to be one of the country’s top live acts.

It is an album about growing up and “coming to terms with the fact that there are great things in the world and there are awful things in the world and that you can’t get one without the other,” says frontwoman Lauren Mayberry.
Over the course of their career, CHVRCHES have played countless shows worldwide, with each tour’s production reaching new heights and leaping towards the top of festival bills including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds. Next up, Splendour in the Grass!
Gang of Youths
The holiness of love, the chaos and rapture of surviving against all odds, these are what drive Gang of Youths. The holiness of love, the chaos and rapture of surviving against all odds, these are what drive Gang of Youths. A five piece from Sydney founded in the confines of their religious youth, enchanted by the spectacle of worship and deliverance, it’s no wonder their music burns with the desperation of apocalypse. With singer Dave Le’aupepe’s lyrics drawn from some of the most miserable life experiences available to humanity, and the band’s music taking cues from rock history’s most ambitious and theatrical preachers, Gang Of Youths drag the beauty out of everything from hell to high heaven.
Debuting in 2013 with smouldering single “‘Evangelists”’, they were met with instant radio play and praise. Only just out of high school, Le’aupepe was already planning to marry his girlfriend, settle down, and leave his dreams of music behind, but the band’s first brush with recognition suggested there could be more to life than the path that had seemed so obviously laid before him. Things moved quickly: the band started their own record label, Mosy Recordings, and got snatched up for really great support slots. But as soon as the band let themselves get their hopes up, Le’aupepe would begin the worst period of his life.
Le’aupepe’s soon-to-be wife was diagnosed with lung cancer after a melanoma on her ear metastasized. Out of all that trauma and regret, Gang of Youths drew THE POSITIONS which was praised worldwide for its sincerity and nuance, blending the melodrama of rock’s greatest traditions with piercing, hyperliterate lyrics.

It’s the first of new music from the pair since the 2013 release of their collaborative album Get Up!, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums Chart and won a GRAMMY Award in 2014 for “Best Blues Album.” A musical expression of the kinship between the two, the album recounts both Ben and Charlie’s personal stories and adds to the sonic history of American struggle and survival.
“Charlie Musselwhite is that very rare and hallowed place where blues past, present and future collide,” says Ben. “He transforms notes into emotions that feel both hauntingly familiar and brand new, as if hearing them for the first time every time. He is a living legend whose harmonica playing should be beamed into outer space to search for other life forms.”
“On stage or in the studio - working with Ben Harper holds the same excitement I experienced working with Chicago blues legends back in the day,” says Charlie. “I think it is safe to say that Ben has reinvented the Blues in a great way: playing modern while preserving the feel. I am honoured and privileged to be a participant in this project.” See them come together at Splendour 2018!

The band first introduced themselves at the start of 2017 with the idiosyncratic, technicolour pop of ’Something For Your M.I.N.D’. The track burned brightly, causing a huge stir online and across the airwaves (including plays by both Frank Ocean and Ezra Koenig on their radio shows). Shorty afterwards, ‘It’s All Good’ and ‘Nobody Cares’ appeared… both intoxicating curveballs and undeniably worthy follow up to their fizzing debut. Since then, they’ve been on a runaway train of success following their internet enigma, including the release of their spectacularly confident self-titled debut album in March 2018 via Domino Records. The album beams with a wonky sense of fun and was showcased by triple j as their ‘Feature Album’.
In just a year they've gone from a shared house side project into a global audiovisual powerhouse. One can only imagine what another 12 months will herald.

This elusive crew of artists hailing from Sydney and Melbourne have established their presence with tongue in cheek, rave-inspired single ‘Not About You’ which was “undeniably one of the best Australian debuts of the year” (Purple Sneakers).
With an unquenchable thirst for good times and indulgence in all things art and pop, Haiku Hands pull together numerous talents to create an original and off-the-wall product; an unlikely but brilliant fusion of dance party and performance art.
Live, they’re outrageous, bold and ruled by fun choreography. They routinely deliver the type of performance experience that turns a dingy club into a heaving sweaty mess. With synchronised dance moves and high energy production, Haiku Hands present an eclectic set and energising live experience. Vocalist Mataya Young (Hermitude/Thundamentals) often joins them on stage, bringing her flavour to the show. Their infectious performance commands the room, confirming an act well and truly on the rise.

Fantastic Man has crafted a steady stream of blissfully eclectic, sought-after releases. His productions have featured on many coveted compilations, such as DJ Kicks, and have landed in countless record bags along the way.
In 2016 Newman released his first LP under the moniker Mind Lotion, ‘Altitude Attitudes’, a lighthearted douche de soleil that gained praise amongst most everyone and quickly sold out, never to be seen or re-pressed again.
Today, Fantastic Man has taken matters into his own hands by setting up two labels; Fine Choice Records, a platform for his own music, and Superconscious, a cooperative with fellow Melbourne cohort Francis Inferno Orchestra, which focuses on developing and exposing predominantly Melbourne based artists.
As a DJ, Fantastic Man is known for his expansive selections, from Ambient New-Age trips to Tribal Acid extravaganzas, all of which have earned him bookings at some of the world’s best known clubs and festivals.

His soft focused abstractions cut a broad path through ‘90s underground house, soundtrack and ambient music. His work is loosely based around drum machine rhythms and soft synthesis; smoothing over nature-machine and industrial-relaxation binaries and enjoying the slippage.
The soundtrack work ‘Overworld’ marked a significant departure from his previous work, introducing a new alias Art Wilson. The album playfully explores the dance performance themes of nature and astrology while sticking with familiar low-budget synth and drum machine instrumentation. Andras also maintains an ongoing collaboration with vocalist Oscar Key Sung. Recorded at his suburban family home, his last release payed homage to his plumber father whilst delving back into sample based house music cliches.
In addition to his production work, Andrew hosts Strange Holiday Radio on Melbourne’s 3RRR 102.7fm where he champions a diverse mix of local and Australian music.

Formed in 2014 after the dissolution of their prior project, indie pop quintet Snakadaktal, Two People wasted little time in making a name for themselves, releasing their debut single, "Fading," near the end of 2015.
Atmospheric, melancholic, and melodically and lyrically compelling, it garnered accolades both at home and abroad, with critics comparing the duo's beguiling sound to artists like the xx, Portishead, and Beach House. A gorgeously smoky second single, "If We Have Time," followed in July 2016 and has since gone on to amass over 1.3 million streams on Spotify.
The duo are currently preparing to release their debut full-length in 2018 on Liberation Records, with management from Good Manners. The LP has been written, recorded, produced and performed by Two People, and mixed by revered Scottish producer Rodaidh McDonald (King Krule, Sampha, the xx), with the first official single expected to be revealed soon.

Shortly after these tracks surfaced, he caught the attention of Aus music stalwart Urthboy, who signed B Wise to his Elefant Traks label in June 2016. Wise quickly followed up with his label debut, the Semi Pro EP. The project's triple j championed single 'No Questions' showcased B Wise’s story-telling skills, touching on introspective themes far beyond his years.
What came next was 'Feel Something' in October 2017. Immediately added to rotation on triple j, the hard-hitting single might be B Wise's most immediate yet and a taste of what fans can expect from his forthcoming debut album.
On the live front, B Wise has cemented himself as an unstoppable force. He's performed a game-changing run of dates, including national support slots for the likes of international superstars Schoolboy Q, Yelawolf, Vince Staples, G-Eazy and Freddie Gibbs, plus festival sets at Splendour In The Grass, Listen Out and Groovin' The Moo.
