Queens of the Stone Age formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. Today, the band's lineup includes founder Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore. Having formed after the breakup of Homme's previous band, Kyuss, QOTSA have honed in on a uniquely powerful, riff-based sound. Spanning a career of six records, the latest being ...Like Clockwork, the band have cemented themselves as global stalwarts of rock music.
Released in 2013 and the first new music from the band since 2007’s ‘Era Vulgaris’, the putting together of ‘…Like Clockwork’ was nothing like its namesake. After a number of “personal ups and downs,” and “a manic year,” the band decided to embrace the beast and “ride shotgun on [their] emotional bandwagon…hold the horrible, lick the lunacy.” Instead of shying away from uncomfortable or painful subject matter, QOTSA faced it head-on. It meant that QOTSA emerged with not only their best work to date, but also one of the most ambitious, fully realised rock albums in recent memory.
